Followed SUW from Polskeoch. "Striding Arch" sculpture nearby. Phenomenal 360 views today. Bit soggy underfoot in places but an easy enough walk in. Top screed has suffered a bit of damage. FB faces NW-ish with NE-ish sighthole open. Cap missing but replacement plug present.

HISTORY: The pillar was completed on 9th October 1953 costing £39.6s.6d. In 1954 this marker was computed as tertiary station NX99/T5 in the Dumfries block. The flush bracket was levelled for height to Class 2 precision also in 1954. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in June 1988. SITE VISIT: Bagged in conjunction with neighbouring Colt Hil. Parked at road end by the forest gate at NS683021, Polskeoch. Followed mapped paths to NS689990. From there did a return spur to Colt Hill then continued to Benbrack. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre plugged with smooth brown plaster. Flush bracket faces northwest, compass measurement 304°. Vented through NE sight hole. A mystery red sandstone arch has recently been erected on the summit, another on Colt Hill. Open views in most directions.
