Visited on way back from Hey Edge walk with Eldest Daughter & Son in Law. 1GL Bolt easily found also nearby Rivet BM on the step of the very ornate village sign post.

St Michael and All Angels Church, Mottram. Stunning Grade II listed church, which dates back to the 15th century. Situated at the summit of Warhill, the tower can be seen for miles around and makes for a spectacular site from the A628 (i.e the Woodhead Pass road). It looks like something straight out of Wuthering Heights. All good with the tower and flagstaff. There is a CBM and 1GL/PA bolt on the south face of the tower. There is also a pivot benchmark on the north face of the garage at 22 Church Brow. And there is a rivet benchmark on the bottom step of a circular set of steps which has a signpost on top (which is on the junction of Church Brow with Ashworth Lane and Broadbottom Road).

A morning pedal from home after a Wetherspoons breakfast. The church is set high up above the village and I would recommend you approach it from Mottram Road on a PRoW. A commanding view to the "flesh pots of Manchester" and the rolling moorland of the Dark Peak. This trig is for churches whose clocks still work (this one) and more kudos if the bells still chime.

So often seen but never visited, a wonderful Heathcliffian top transposed on to the edges of one of the more diverse areas of Gtr Mcr/Derbyshire down the road. Graveyards a fascinating journey through the centuries. Trig point 699.

Love this church, can be seen from everywhere in Glossopdale and Longdendale valleys. Interesting fact: Man City’s Mike Summerbee got married here with George Best as his best man
