By far the most difficult Trig to access so far. Found concrete posts at rear of compound. At second attempt got over the fence and managed to find the Trig amongst the undergrowth. Main problem was finding my way back to the posts because of the steep slope and dense undergrowth. Got over the fence but a bit battered and bruised - be aware if attempting.

Parked at the gates to the Southern Water compound, then walked down the lane (ESE direction) until there was a footpath (near the electricity pylon) that led back to the rear (NE corner) of the Southern Water compound. There, I found a gap in the vegetation and I chopped my way through to the fence. Found the 2 concrete fence posts with the overhanging tree, but it was completely overgrown and I was unable to climb it. See pics. Not sure I'm up for climbing over such a high fence, so I might leave this one as "inaccessible" and not attempt it again.

Interesting road up from the centre of Andover in a cutting hewn from rock crossed by a cast iron foot bridge. No chance of seeing pillar through entrance gates - in vegetation on right beyond comms tower. Heading further down lane (East) there is a unofficial footpath leading past the far side of the security compound. I found a way to the fence through a thinner part of the vegetation. There are two very closely spaced concrete posts and with the aid of the neighbouring trees those of an athletic build can cross. A steep bank ahead was climbed to the pillar, completely hidden from the surrounds. Much satisfaction in accessing it.

En route home so stopped off on the off chance. Compound perimeter is readily accessible (a footpath runs down the N side of it) so must have been within feet of trig but a) 7 ft of wire fencing completely overgrown with ivy and brambles is impenetrable (both physically and visually) and b) had left Old Man guarding the car and was a bit put off by very shifty men with dogs. So leaving it as one which got away - but with a couple of marks for views to NE (FB is for logging purposes only).

Access is a problem for this trig as it's another located inside a water company's compound (Southern Water in this case). However, with a little peristence access is possible. The gates looked a bit daunting to me, but at the rear of the site the 7ft fence is possible to negotiate with the aid of the trees overhanging it. The pillar is located in quite dense scrub on a mound in the compound. Once in there and at the trig the cover is good enough that anyone working in the compound wouldn't know you were there. I cleared the ivy and scrub away from the pillar and could find no damage, so have classified it thus and have brought it to the attention of the admin team to check why it's currently classified as 'slightly damaged'. The cap has been replaced by a tarmac plug; the rear sight hole is the only one open. There are no views from here. ***Revisited 26 Dec 2017 with Carole Engel after our Porton Down incursion. same access point at rear (NE side) of the compound over the chain link fencing.

There is another way in to the reservoir compound to that previously described, its hard to find and involves getting on your hands and knees but is much safer than climbing barbed wire fences, contact me for directions. The pillar is heavily overgrown but looks in reasonably good condition.

The pillar seemed to be in good condition with the cap missing (asphalt filling), but future visitors might need to bring secateurs to make things easier for themselves.

This pillar is in a location that is not accessable as it is surrounded by two layers of chain link fencing as well as heavy vegetation on property belonging to the water board. I did actually climb into the compound but the hill within is so heavily overgrown that the nearest that I could get was about eighteen feet so unable to get a photograph or flush bracket info.
