From car park, walk east through the old fort towards the lighthouse. Just before reaching the lighthouse, on the south side of the path, tucked behind a hedge is the pillar. Fading coat of blue paint. Raised S prefix. Cap missing. View to east only, other directions obscured. Fifty metres further east is a toposcope where there are fabulous views along the coast to south west and to north across Torbay, and the Dorset coast to east, depending on weather conditions, clear at the time. Cup of tea in the Guardhouse Cafe on the way back to the car park.

A fabulous sunny and warm day to visit. Trig painted a nice 'Berry' purple. In good condition right beside the path with good views. A 200m walk to cliff top for some fantastic views. Car parking quite dear @60p for 20mins (Nov 2022)

3 major storms in as many days, Francis today meant it was very very windy at the fort, difficult to miss being purple, this one. Great views out to sea.

Walked along the Coastal Path, finishing up at Berry Head. Pillar has previously been painted purple, but it's quite faded now. The pillar is by the hedges, so no special views until you walk further down the headland.

Trig point in good condition but a little tucked away beside trees, so only noticed when walking away from Berry Head. Due to the trees not much view from the pillar, but fantastic views of coastline only a few paces away. Trig point seems to have been painted a pale [or faded] mauve/purple!

Set within a grounds of an old Fortress this is a slightly unusual spot for a trig point. Perhaps it has been moved at some point in history. The surrounding area is well worth exploring and on the day I visited I had a lovely walk up from Brixham

Easy to find when walking from the lighthouse. Busy today in the sunshine. Several tall ships heading south

Good access within the Berry Head Fort area. Several interesting nearby features: lighthouse, coastguard stn, the fort, couple of benchmarks, toposcope, ROC nuclear fallout monitoring bunker, cafe - it's all here, views are quite good too. Pillar has a distinct lilac hue to it which is not really apparent from my photographs. Original cap has been lost, asphalt plug replacement. There is a 'BSM'-style FB. RHD side sight hole is open. Views from the pillar to NE only due to presence of a small copse.

Easy stroll from car park. Beware the narrow lane to it, clipped my wing mirror. Great coastal views,though not from the purple pillar itself. Toposcope 190ft asl. Interesting place. The BBC were filming an episode of The Coroner at the time.

vgc, mortar plug, BSM style FB. Edge of scrub S side of track, inside old fort. £0.80 for 1hr parking. Fine headland, visited several times before - some tiny rare plants here - but first time I'd been to the trig.

Nice location, with some excellent cliff views. Trig itself is fine, been painted white a while ago, and sporting a tar plug.

A circular walk from Brixham taking in the multicache at the same time. Very clear today. Could see down to Portland Bill.

We tackled this as a family, doing the nearby multi-cache at the same time. It should have been a health walk but it started with pasties and ended with a cream tea! Stumbled over the trig on the way to the lighthouse.

Easy access if you don't mind paying £1.50 to park. It's on the left just before a building with a strange wind generator. Painted white, tarmac plug.

Dead easy to find; right on the path. To make the trip more interesting we advise that you climb down Berry Head to the sea.

Easily found pillar almost on the end of Berry Head (Now a 'National Nature Reserve' looked after by the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust). Pillar looks ok, but the spider is incomplete (Does this count as 'slightly damaged' ?). Massive wide ranging views in all directions, as far as Portland Bill in Dorset (on the odd occasion !). The site is home to two Napoleonic forts & loads of uncommon wildlife too.
