No issues encountered with reference to 'not being welcome', trespass & confrontation. Out at 05:30am in the undertaking of a five trig assault to complete The English Lakes OL7 map, Saskills, Grassgarth Heights, The Alps, How Barrow & Canon Winder...Off-road parking to the right of The Courtyard Cottages sign & entrance at GR 35725 83619. 'Take' the track thro' the entrance & upon reaching private signs both left & right, follow the track between the two GR 35590 83096. Passing-by another private sign left, proceed right to go thro' a rather ornate kissing-gate at GR 35441 82967. Climb over two further gates en-route veering upwards & steeply left to the summit, the gates at GR 35440 82853 & 35490 82670. For The Alps parked sort'a off-road 'pulled-in tight' to the grass verge to the left of a double-gate at GR 29337 80880...Climbing the gate & a coupl'a walls en-route went for a direct ascent & decent. Somewhat steep & thro' some rough vegetation. For How Barrow lay-by parked off the B5278 at GR 35428 79216...Going over the stile to the right of parking entered the woods & 'made' for a direct ascent to the summit. Dodgin' thro' the trees, relatively easy lower down but 'developed' into something particularly arduous towards the top consequence of dense vegetation, not quite as bad as, but reminiscent of my recent Watch Croft ascent in Cornwall...All in all a quite sinister approach! Left the trig to the South to undertake a slightly easier decent. For Canon Winder parked off-road at Winder Bridge GR 35822 74842...Followed the track over the cattle-grid to seek permission to access at the farm...Access granted, what a fantastic view...The Hoad, Blackpool Tower, Morecambe Power Station & The Lakeland Fells. What a place to live, star-gazing there must be amazing!

Ran Fell Foot parkrun before doing a circular walk and visiting Bigland pillar. To access Bigland take the PRoW west of the tarn. At the wall corner above High Stribers Wood leave the path and cross into Grassgarth Heights (pallets blocking wall after fallen tree). A clear run to Bigland, lovely setting and views in all directions. Bigland is gifted to the people who succeeded in getting the government to raise the legal age of marriage to 18 years old.

250th Pillar. A quick read of the few logs here seemed to suggest this brief trespass might be tricky, but with Storm Franklin stirring after Storm Eunice had swept through, there wasn't a soul in sight throughout my visit. I parked in the wide pull-in at Low Gate and headed south through Bigland Hall grounds and round the tarn footpath. The pillar is visible throughout peeking over the top of Grassgarth Heights, and is in good condition with a full set of metalwork. I can't speak for the views...! As the rain and wind absolutely thrashed down, I opted for the quickest and most direct route back, so headed for the rough track to the north-east and back to the car via the road. Although there are 'Private' and 'Keep Out' signs on almost every gate and fence, I had no problems at all accessing this one - I was off the path 15 minutes max.

Ten days after my previous failure to reach this trig I returned to the fray. This time I approached from Grassgarth. Crossed through the wall easily, adjacent to barricade in wall just prior to path reaching access land. About the only place I've seen hereabouts that does not have a 'Private' sign attached. Very murky. Returned to access land through gate with obligatory 'Keep Out' sign.

Discretion being the better part of death I decided to abort this visit when a large number of men and dogs started to shoot at anything that moved by the tarn! I'd reached the wall where the 'trespass' commences when the pellets started flying - as opposed to the unfortunate ducks, who stopped flying. Marked as 'inaccessible' on basis I wasn't going to visit under the landowners nose - especially as he had a gun; and it wasn't a pleasant place to be at the time.
