Bignall Hill contains quite the ugliest monument that I have ever visited. It was built to honour John Wedgwood (son of Josiah) in 1845, and was once a handsome spectacular obelisk. What we see today is the badly damaged base, a poor fat stump of a memorial, because during a storm in 1976 the obelisk collapsed and was never replaced. The nearby pillar has an asphalt covering, and all four sight holes are open.

The journey was smooth until I was about 500 yards from my trig when a army of flying ants attempted to attack me but I soon escaped luckily against all odds. The trig stands proud on the hill looking over all of stoke on trent and over the Cheshire plains aswell. I would say it is a well known land mark in the area and so is the wedge wood monument next to it. Great trig I would recommend a visit to all fellow trig pointers
