Overall approach from the east. Parked in wide entrance to windfarm at ND278531. Walked the track past the length of the first field, bull in residence, then turned NW along the front edge of the second fields until switching to the back edge of the final front field where the trig lives in the back (W) corner. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces northeast, compass measurement 37°. Vented through right (NE) sight hole. Barbed wire across pillar had been cut prior to my visit, not by me. Limited open outlook, partly blocked by nearby woods.

I’d be putting this one off since reading Lone Walkers log but today was the day to face the fear! Parked at start of windfarm track, opened gate and then walked to ND 27549 52678. Then through two sets of gates (through one field of cows and calves) to a wooden fence with some lovely barbed wire wrapped around the top. I could see the top of the trig now. However to hug it you had to climb the wooden fence, then negotiate the wall and two stranded barbed wire fence and nettles in the corner to get to the trig. Overall given my limited abilities I think I managed it quite well! Back via two sets of gates (ND 27162 53322, ND 27130 53481) to road (probably the easy approach!) and along road to car. However road is very very busy so beware!

Parked at entrance to windfarm. Walked up track (not as far as turbines) then a right through a few fields. Avoided cows and found the trig in the corner of a field.

P161. Parked opposite cottage with horses. Owners heading out and they gave me permission to park and walk through crop field but had no idea where the trig was as they had never seen it. Walked through the crops and quickly soaked to the top of my thighs. Then over a wall and along another field and found trig in the corner.

Quite simply the most awful spot I've ever had to visit to reach a trig. Parked at the end of the drive of house opposite the field - no-one home, so took a chance and into cow field. Gate to left of field gives access to field the trig is in, but its ankle deep in cow shite and mud, picked way across manure ridden field, dodging bullocks and thistles and cow pats, through knee deep vegetation and more cow pats to the corner of the field, where dismembered bird and stinking mud made access to pillar difficult, never mind the barbed wire fence. Trig is ok, plug intact, nettles doing nicely.

trig surrounded by nettles
through this to reach the trig
hmm, not nice this bit
