Dry and grey walk after parking near the beginning of the track at Braidbog. The track takes you to the summit viewpoint and short, fat trig but doesn't go the most direct route.

Log #285. Good track network from south, and room for a few cars to park. Enjoyable walk through woodland, then zigzags up to the pillar and viewfinder. Square, Lossie-type pillar in decent condition. Looks to have been painted and re-painted a few times, possibly due to graffiti. Viewfinder provided by Buckie Rotary and appears to be on highest point. Great views in all directions - Ben Rinnes and Bennachie easily visible, could just about make out Ben Wyvis. Merry Christmas all! [ExP-210/MiP-18/Rev-2/BM-16/IS-30/Other-9]

Good walk in, steep, approx 2 miles. Views of Moray firth, Banffshire and Morayshire fantastic. Changed since I was there last though, the big pill box type observation tower has been removed and replaced by a small cairn for the millenium, see pic 02.

Myself and Martin at the trig. Myself and mate Martin standing by the trig, a square pillar, funnily enough for being attacked by the vandals with spray cans it retains spider and cap!
Pic 02, pill box removed and replaced by little cairn You can see the space occupied by the watch tower now has a small cairn with a marble top with information written on it, I preferred the old one!

One of ten such pillars built without flush brackets in 1936 for the measurement of the Lossiemouth Base. This was originally established as a base in 1909. It was measured again using the then new squat untapered pillars in 1938 under the direction of Major Hotine. Bin of Cullen is part of the extension to the base (see TP4544). Pillar in good condition but the local spray painters had recently been by. The ESE facing flush bracket was added in 1963. Spider retains cap with raised lettering which may have been added in 1963 too. Visited and photographed 4/09/2001, GRP.
