Narrow country roads so parked in golf course CP couple of hundred yards down the road. Clear marked path with stiles and final steep ascent. Extensive views. Traces of paint on open topped debris filled pillar. Returned by same route. Alternative path through woodland from golf course CP horrible- not recommended unless you have a machete.

Parked as advised by Clochandighter - thanks. Then through a dew-soaked, long grassed footpath (immediately soaked from the knees down, but no matter) to the base of this imposing and grand rocky outcrop. Quick climb up scattering sheep as I did so. Pillar has no cap; all sight-holes open. Fine visit.

Walked in from the signed path at West Broadlaw Farm but the path was that overgrown within 10 metres of the road that it was a bit of an effort. Managed to find a way through and rewarded with decent views.

Full 360 panoramic view includes the Ochils, Knock Hill, Fife Lomonds, North Berwick Law, Arthurs Seat, Blackford Hill, Braid Hills, Pentland Hills, Culter Fell and Tinto.

Vgc pillar on top of a sharp little volcanic intrusion. Accessed from parking (such as it isn't) at Hangingside Wood and quick splodge along the path. Easy going until the last 50m which is steep and fun. FB faces east-ish with all sightholes open and the pillar bolt visible. The hooks are a bit dented (with bit of weird blue rope noose tied to one...) and the asphalt plug has been cracked open. Views are simply stunning.

Second visit. Pillar completed 9th April 1944. Secondary station in Block NT18, Dunfermline. BSM type FB. Pillar still in reasonable shape but excessive visitor numbers are taking their toll on its appearance. Spider has been open, concrete poured into hole but not properly plugged. Flush bracket faces east. Wooden stake had been wedged through the sighting portholes damaging the stud. Binny Craig is a prominent rocky outcrop easily accessed from the south. Original visit to record FB number in 1985. Revisited and photographed 13/04/2003, GRP.

The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1964. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in June 1981. Distinctive rocky outcrop.
