Splendid, mostly Early English church building. The recessed broach-spire was rebuilt c1760. Plenty of interest within. The nearby Chilmark quarries supplied the stone for the building of Salisbury Cathedral in the thirteenth century. Quick visit to the Black Dog for a reviving lemonade completed a fine visit to this village.

The Church of St Margaret of Antioch stands in the north of Chilmark, a village nestled in the folds of the downs to the west of Wilton. The churchyard was entered directly from the end of the short road called Barberry. The pretty little cruciform church with central spire is a Grade II* listed building and has a cut bench mark near its northwest corner. Chilmark has some fine looking stone houses and a bourne running alongside one of its streets.
