HISTORY: This monument to map making was built during May 1940. It was completed on 12th May 1940 for a total cost of £4.2s.9d. In 1945, this triangulation station was computed during the reconnaissance of Secondary Block SD80 (Manchester) as tertiary triangulation station SD80/T10. In 1958 the bench mark on this pillar was valued for height to Class 1 precision at tertiary levelling standards. This marker was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in February 1980. SITE VISIT: Open parkland with adjacent monument. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre has broken open asphalt. Flush bracket faces NW, compass measurement 330°. Vented through NE sight hole. Full 360° panoramic view. Part of a 24 trig stint around the northern outskirts of Manchester.
