The journey to this pillar is well worth doing. Lovely walk through the glen and forest; be prepared to take an occasional wrong turn and retrace steps. In my opinion, an occupational hazard of forest tracks and doesn’t matter. Some steep sections on our way to Eilligan before continuing on to Bishop’s Seat. I recorded “slightly damaged”, although I reckon it’s more a case of weathering. On our return, we followed the more obvious path down. We discovered that it leads to The Badd and the stony forestry track that we had been on, on our way up. I have included a picture of the pile of stones that marks where the two routes make a T-junction. We continued on down and rested a while and watched a skilled and successful fly-fisherman at the reservoir.

Nice walk up through the Bishops Glen forestry area to Eileagan then across to Bishops Seat. Great views all around, the Trig Pillar is weathered.

Very impressive viewpoint here. Shame that it was all grey and overcast today but this really is a quite grand location.

Set off from Inverchaolain. Excellent views of sea, loch & mountain. Pillar has open spider. Spider protrudes approx 10mm from top face - the face is smooth & flat (was there ever a screed cover?).

Vented through back sight hole. Excellent 360° panorama from top. Descended randomly through all sorts of conditions to NS147783 then followed treaturous route down side of valley to mapped tracks.

Top open. Spider standing proud of top- could be due to concrete loss. A small padlock was attached to one of the three raised 'loops'.
