A bit harsh. The views are far more superior/dramatic on the western edges. I gift this trig to Walsh fell shoes, once one of the only two shoes geared towards fell runners. Walked over from Corbar Hill – lots of snow about with drifting – if there were any paths they were deep in snow forcing me into the heather and bogs. Decided to put my gaiters on after my boots had filled with snow. Very hard going – no footprints to follow – had to be very careful streams were covered and it was easy to sink deep into boggy ground. Great 360 deg views from the trigpoint with some blue sky and little wind. Continued on the suggested route along Hob Tor, Short Edge and Combs Edge. Had great difficulty finding any kind of path in the snow making this a very difficult route in these conditions – only eight miles but it just about pushed me to the limit.

Interesting route from Chapel Station, (where that you may ask), and Castle Naze, (Pinnacle Arete May 1978 if you ask) and around the edge. Views enhanced by the fact that you look OVER Dove Holes rather than at it. Tempted to add another mark for the excuse to revisit the Beehive.

Parked at the back of White Hall & took footpath up to Combs Edge following the broken wall round the moor edge to 2 small buildings. Picked up the track leading East past the grouse butts & then followed path by broken wall heading SE before turning N along the edge to the trig. About an hour each way.

I approached from Lightwood Reservoir (note reservoir has now gone) then along ridge on peaty path. However a much better approach and more rewarding would be to start at SK052785 on the minor road, climb up to Castle Naze Hill Fort then along the edge of the ridge via Short Edge and Hob Tor. There is a peaty path through the heather which is easy to follow.
