Spoke to farmer who gave us directions and permission to go to trig point. Followed what used to be a permissive path and after logging trig we continued to the lookout building on the coastal path. What a fabulous location.

Spoke to the very friendly farmer at farm to seek permission to access trig via farm yard. He was very friendly when we told him we weren't ramblers but trig baggers - permissive path is no more due to "issues" - but asking at farm readily gets access to trig via the most direct route.

The final trig of the second day of my expedition into the west country. There is indeed a National Trust car parking area at the end of the lane leading to Treleaver. There is also a DEFRA Conservation Walk that goes from the car park out past the trig point. It’s not signposted though and you only see the waymark discs once you are actually on the path. Ignore the footpath that goes to Beagles Point unless you’re intending to go the long way round. Go into the farmyard directly opposite the car park. I knocked and asked at the farmhouse. As you enter, turn left and walk through the yard to the muddy (and I mean REALLY MUDDY) lane at the end and you’ll see the DEFRA Conservation Walk discs. Wellies are essential and waders would be better. Turn right into the lane and follow it as far as the gate into the field. The walk continues through the field and past the trig pillar that is mounted on a huge concrete plinth in the wall dividing the fields. The pillar is in good condition and has all its metalwork in place. The views are not particularly exciting being, for the most part, waterlogged field used for grazing stock.

We parked at Trewillis and headed onto the coastal path from there. When we came around the headland to the hedgeline with the trig on it we discovered that there is a DEFRA conservation path that goes from Treleaver right past the trig to the coastal path - so access is no problem. Apparently there is also car parking at Treleaver according to the little map showing the route of the permissive path. It's a great walk via the headland though, with great views. Plug with indented lettering.
