Parked at the edge of the plantation to the east of the pillar. Followed the track to the end then hopped over the fence into the plantation and followed the 'Robbie Allan 10km off road experience' track to the crest of the hill then a short walk to the trig. Perfect evening and impressive views. Pillar condition as previously logged.

Up from east. Electric fence looked a little difficult to cross so I used the gate by the forest edge. Good view of Tinto. In very similar condition to the pillar on Robert Law which I had visited earlier in my walk from Rigside to Hyndford Bridge.

Great views, glorious weather. Parked according to Clochandighter*s suggestion. Easy route, no barb or electric to cross, though very muddy today. North along road to track at end of trees. Follow track, over a couple of gates, up to top of hill. Unbarbed crossing point beside gate at SW end of fence.

Damaged pillar with heavily eroded base and more crumbling concrete exposing the internal angle iron. FB faces N-ish with W/E-ish sightholes open and bolt visible. Cap present with sunken lettering. Great 360 degree views. Problematic bag due to first approach from Pepperknowes resulting in a bad electric fence shock. Second approach via Woodlands yielded a good route from the extremely chatty farmer. His cows were calving, so best avoided.....lots of electric fences, so be careful. Headed SW from Woodlands across the field until a stone dyke. Jump that and head up the hill. Re-enter the top field. Come down via the same route. Watch the iron gate on the track to Stonehill, the electric fence is connected to it and sounds painful from the humming......

Badly eroded at the base, one of the dodgy concrete batch of Lanarkshire. Metalwork intact. Good views across to the Campsie Fells. Visited thanks to a over grassy but enjoyable singletrack bike ride from the top of Longmoor Hill near Rigside. This is mainly used by horses and continues as a fine descent to the Carmichael Burn. Best done in a dry spells. Lots of clegs.

Left the car in the Tinto Hill car park and walked along country road to the climb. Followed the tree line to the top of the hill so didn’t have to cut through field with the sheep and cattle.
