On a linear walk from Eddleston to Innerleithen. From track running along NE side of the wall, a well defined trod through the heather leads up to the pillar. Centre cap missing, tube not plugged; front and LHD side sight hole plugs are degraded to varying degrees, rear open, RHD side sealed. Extensive panoramic views.

From extensive tracks near Innerleithen, many MTB. Luckily, the boundary trail is closed to MTBs due to storm damage, with easy access for walkers along outside of wall.

As when I bagged Blackhope Scar and Dundreich I parked on the side of the road at NT3290142515. Instead of making a straight line up Woodhope Bank or via the track at Peeble Rig I followed the valley floor along the logging road to NT289457 and up to Witch Well. Then just followed the logging tracks back to the open hill side and on to the trig. There is a quad track / path with runs alongside the fence all the way to the trig. Returned via the Peeble Rig track down to Williams lee. Should have took some paint to spruce this one up but feared the wind would be to strong and i would end up with more on me than the trig, and i was right.

Parked at junction of private road and B709. Footbridge over Leithen Water at nt325426 and straight up over Woolhope Bank. Returned via Leithen Door Burn. Some bracken to negotiate. It's worth it to see the purple heather clad slopes.Pillar commands 360 degree views. Plug is missing. Still retains a whitewash coat of paint. Go in late August/ early Sept to experience these wonderful colours. Interesting building at Leithen Lodge. Extra mark for blue sky, excellent visibility and the purple heather. Never met another person.

Leading a walking group over the hills between Peebles & Innerleithen gave us the chance to visit this trig and even have our lunch break beside it. Good weather today gave us some fine views of the Tweed Valley hills and we had an enjoyable walk from the trig over to Lee Pen and down into Innerleithen.

Parked at the end of the private road and took the first bridge over the the burn to the pillar via Woolhope Bank. Great 360 views from the summit. Managed to slip on the wet grass and break my fibula within sight of the car on the way down so had to postpone the planned Blackhope Scar trip to a later date. Shame as the weather was perfect.
