Descended from the trig on Great Rhos to join the forest road through the now deforested area and around Shepherds Well, before following the path that leads up to the transmitter at Black Mixen. Trig sits on a mound (still in cloud so no views). Can hear the distant sounds of gun fire. Trig is in good condition with spider and FB intact.

Made a couple of novice errors on this one. The first was to wear shorts and boots with no gaiters; the second was to stick to the direct route rather than contour up on the plantation tracks. The trouble was that a fresh shower of rain had soaked everything just before we started so all the gorse, long grass and bracken shed their loads of fresh raindrops down our legs and our feet were sodden before we were half way up! We parked in the disused quarry just short of Foelidoes and went up the obvious route. The plan was then to bag Radnor Forest but the 6km round trip put us off, so we settled for Badland Hill, and back down for a 10km yomp.
