Parked in Alnham at roadside. Then walked restricted byway south up onto Blackchester Hill. Accessed trig point through two gates from track and around quarry edge. It's surprising that it's still here being so close to quarry.

Circular walk from Ingram via Hart Law and Scrainwood. Approached trig from bridleway to west alongside good wall. Restless cattle in field south of wall. There are convenient gates just west of trig so no walls to cross. Trig is located above old overgrown quarry.

Very pleasant 3 hour walk starting by the phone box at Alnham, south to Blackchester Hill TP, then followed ROWs via Scrainwood, Hazeltonrig and Alnham Tower up to Hart Law then on to Ewe Hill and Lumbsden Hill * before dropping down to Prendwick and back to the start via the minor road. *It would take very little effort at this point to add Old Fawdon Hill TP to the walk. Blackchester TP sits on the edge of an old quarry that is being used as a fly-tip, it's all a bit unsightly. Best views south over Vale of Whittingham towards Simonside & Tosson Hill.

Visible and accessible although on private land. I followed the bridleway south from Alnham ant then went through a gate at the top of the hill and followed the wallside east to Blackchester Hill - no walls to climb, just one low hurdle to straddle. Pillar in good condition. Original plug with indented lettering. Loveley panoramic all round views.
