Walked over from Kithurst Hill, and could see the pillar atop Blackpatch Hill from quite a distance. I left the footpath to quickly (to my surprise) climb this green hill of pasture. The land hereabouts has supported human settlers for thousands of years as evidenced by tumuli, hill forts and Neolithic flint mining (nearby ridged scars). Pillar has open cap with two sight-holes open.
