Parked at roadside on top lane near start of track to farm. Walked track to farm and spoke to very friendly farmer who said o.k. to visit no problem. He gave us directions to trig. The views from the top and very good.

Approached from NE using Bridleway of Buxton Old Rd. At the point the BW heads W nipped over gate heading S and continued up the grassed track. Eventually came to scrapyard and the pillar just over the wall surrounded by more scrap. Views good but not the best visibility on the day. All metal work intact. Marked down due to its immediate surroundings. In total agreement with previous log (Lost Lad)

I'd read some of the bad press below but I had a good experience with this one. A farmer lad said it was ok to head up and told me the best way to get to the trig. On the way down I was stopped by another one of the landowners who was sound and thought some of the previous comments on here were unfair. After all, it's his land, and he hasn't knocked the trig down, and I was given assistance in visiting it.

It took me a while to find the pillar, its surrounding are even worse than Windmill Hill but at least there was no canine escorts! The views were very good today but only awarded a low mark due to the scrapyard surroundings. Ah well, at least Ladder Hill should be rubbish-free.

Metal plug [indented letters]. Private. Higher Blakelow Farm is home to Blakelow Ltd, a building firm, which may explain the use of the site as a dump. Trig not easy to access, as hemmed in between the wall & the building debris. Ridge can be reached from the RoW to the north east by following a muddy track [2 gates to cross].

Pillar has its original plug and all metalwork is OK. Some traces of paint on all sides of the pillar. Concrete base just visible above the grass line. Good views to the north but to the south there is a stone wall right by the pillar and if you peer over it you have a majestic sight of rubble, excavations of some kind or another and a lot of rusting heavy machinery - so don't bother!
