The car was in for a service in Macclesfield so went for a walk. I called at the farm (Higher Blakelow) and asked for permission to visit the trig. Not your typical farmer (face furnishings etc) and not your typical farm, this is a busy working area, hence the complaints of previous loggers. The farmer was very friendly and pointed me to the track leading to the trig and assured me that the pillar remains intact and safe on his land. Clambered over a lot of scrap to get to it (more than 2019 photos now) by the side of a wall/ quarry on the other side. Despite its surroundings, I do believe it is in safe hands. I am gifting this to to our "banged up" chums in Wales. You may have company soon!

I'd read some of the bad press below but I had a good experience with this one. A farmer lad said it was ok to head up and told me the best way to get to the trig. On the way down I was stopped by another one of the landowners who was sound and thought some of the previous comments on here were unfair. After all, it's his land, and he hasn't knocked the trig down, and I was given assistance in visiting it.
