Parked in village of Aston Tirrold in car park next to small chapel. From there west along footpath. Onto bridleway between open fields, tree lined hill to north. No obvious route. Fairly direct although slightly tricky across uneven tussocks and up to tree line. Steeper and thick with ground vegetation hiding burrows, holes and fallen branches. Over wooden perimeter fence at top. Pillar visible on the other side of another field where sheep were grazing. Pillar located on a very lumpy strip of land between two wooden railing fences. Good views to north and west.

Tried to get to this from the wrong direction. Followed the footpath from Aston Tirrold. And then thought about trying short cut up the side of the hill through gate. The hillside is covered in holes made by badgers and rabbits. Fell down about 4 before i gave up and went along until second gate that enter field with sheep in it. Still very slippy but easy walk to Trig Point. It now has a new fence in front of it so difficult to get good picture of bracket. The track down to Blueberry was much nicer. Def go that way if you are thinking of going there.

Walked up from Aston Upthorpe, where All Saints' Church is well worth a visit, very simple Norman architecture dating from 1080. If approaching this way, cut straight up the field bankside opposite the metal kissing gate and you will find yourself at the end of the gap between the fence and the barbed wire and able easily to walk along to the trig. Excellent all round views on a beautiful sunny evening, especially if you are tolerant of power stations! Also many red kites and kestrels hunting their evening meal. Centre and all except N s/holes open, otherwise vgc.

We parked on Hagbourne Road in a layby, on the N side of the road, to the N of the trig (approx. SU549865). Then it was a short walk along a path in the S direction (next to the gate to the path was a wooden bench (marked 2000AD) and a rubbish bin), then up the fort to this trig. The trig was in between a wooden fence and a barbed wire fence, but the barbed wire fence is right up against the trig so you don't have to cross the barbed wire fence. Thoroughbred horses were kept in the surrounding fields, so my guess was that the barbed wire fence was there to keep other animals away from the wooden fence. Trig was in very good condition, centre cap missing. Really nice views from up here, except for Ditcot Power Station!
