Peveril Point has been one of our favourite short walks over the years, but only today did I climb the steps to view the bolt and wave at the two watch keepers on duty. Not sure about the vane but bolt in relatively good condition (a bit battered and now part painted yellow). Great views on a sunny morning.

As @jonglew said, Vane's gone, but bolt is still very much there. Great views as well! Very helpful and entertaining tour of the coastguard building as well, which is open to the public and all for free.

My first log of a non-pillar point! Inspired by trigpointing logs, I was in Swanage and saw there was an open day so could not resist the visit. In same condition as last reported (painted over). Watchperson I spoke to wondered why there was a trip hazzard at the top of the stairs.

Operated by National Coastguard Institute, manned by volunteers. Spoke with the senior (in number of years watchkeeping) watchkeeper who showed me the bolt on the balcony at top of the steps. It's currently painted over with thick green non-slip paint. He confirmed it is brass and said he intend cleaning off the paint. He also confirmed the current vane is not the original.

SU31 T370 VANE and BOLT. Vane reported destroyed 06/87 and the roof of the watch tower has been re-felted so the bolt (also at this GR) is probably gone too although there is a slight chance it is on the balcony, but couldn't see it by standing on periphery wall, although the balcony has been covered with a thick green paint. Was occupied by the coast watch at the time of our visit.
