A walk with Hitman9956 around the Sikeshead Mine remains, the Bolt's Law Winding Engine and up the the summit and trig of Bolt's Law. A pleasant circular, some nice views.

Parked near the Dead Friars Quarry and followed the footpath/gravel track West, then cut across the moor for the final ascent. Roughly 60 minutes walk there and back. Would reccomend teaming the walk with a visit to Bolts Law Standing Engine. Light drizzle, 5°C.

Second visit, different route. Parked at Ramshaw and followed track S and then footpath SE up to the chimney past plenty of fascinating mining paraphernalia, then ROWs across the access land to the TP. A much superior route than following the ROW from the road to the W. Despite heavy showers on and off all day we managed to avoid them and enjoyed great sunshine and fantastic views. 3,5 mile walk, 636 ft of elevation. Highly recommended!

Parked at the cattle grid to the south west, its then a fairly simple if wet underfoot walk along paths to the pillar. Good views across the moors despite the low cloud and rain showers blowing across the area. Centre cap missing

Parked at Meadows Edge, good tracks across the moors to the Moorland Ridge of Bolts Law. Worth detours off to the old chimneys and dike, an area rich in history. On a clear day it's said you can see five counties from the summit!

Parked at Dead Friar's and walked good track and cycle route 7 to sheep fold. Then followed the Pennine Journey route north to pick up the bridleway southwest towards the trig point.

From the cattle grid to the west. The Estate have put up a sign as you go through a gate saying 'NO DOGS on this Access Land". I kept my two on short leads and we didn't stray from the Public ROW there and back. I don't think we transgressed here - certainly not on the scale we transgressed to reach Bolts Law Smalesmouth (TP1527) , that's for sure! Fantastic views, great TP.

My first visit to the trig point and cairn at Bolt's Law. Walked up the incline from Rookhope and then followed a footpath till it petered out. Worth the climb for the views from the top!

Re-log as this is one of our nearby trigs since moving house one dale northwards. Circuit from home over the snowy moorlands. Surprised to see another set of footprints by the trig. Great views of course.

Packlet’s Gate a good path leads right to the top where a Trig Column and cone shaped Carrick are found, on route to Blanchland fascinated by Wainwrights description of the place on his Pennine Journey, it did not disappoint.

Parked at Rookhope and bagged the three trigs on a high level walk above the village during this glorious March in 2012. Bagged this one after approach from the West from Dry Rigg trig. A mixture of heather bashing then a decent bridleway up the trig from the road. Great views and a good currick nearby. A fine trig.

Another squelchy slog. Two of these today was enough for me. Unusually on this type of remote trig, there was another walker - who obviously had better things to do because he didn't stop at the trig, only at the cairn, and despite being within 25m of me, didn't even say 'hullo'. The cairn had been decorated with tinsel at some point - maybe last Xmas?

Magnificent views. Despite being only 540 metres above sea level apparently you can see five counties on a clear day (Durham, Cleveland, Northumberland, North Yorkshire and Cumbria)and occasionally Scotland - uuuum!

Walked up from Rookhope doing the two caches as well. Arrived at the trig point just in time to watch a line of beaters start to drive the grouse down to the waiting guns. Barbaric sods. Trig point is complete and in good condition. Sky very black so I didn't hang about for too long.
