Using Sheepsocks' photo my assistant aligned distant trees and fence post, block found on first insertion of trowel. Amazing Luck. Line up fence post with two distant trees. Also one of the fence poles ~75 cm left of that visible in photo has a section of exhaust pipe attached. The block is ~2.5m west of this and ~1.8m from road. A passing dog walker expressed interest in what we were doing. Approx 10cm deep, left uncovered.

Still tough to find even with OS sketch and pics by sheepsocks - still took 15 mins of ferreting (think that's the word I'm after) about

Success with the help of GPS...its not that deep considering its not been dug up for 3 years ish. Cannot really help with clues from the surroundings as the hedge is a hedge, only describle feature is that the opposite hedge has holly in it and its on the right side verge as you stand with your back to the village. On the plus side the dog muck is no longer a problem.

Yorkshire. I did not have the sketch, only Ted's three year old photo. We found the right spot but a lot of excavating through piles of dog mess would have been necessary.

Was unable to find the surface block despite prodding about with a trowel. Unfortunately it looks like this has become a popular spot for dog walking as the grass verge was covered in dirt!

Too much vegetation at this time of the year. I could not see the tree stump, and only very little of the fence, and did not notice any marks on the road, so a failure.

In the three years since the last visit the vegetation has grown again! Took a long time to find this one but got there in the end! Very quiet rural spot.

Used the OS sketch to pace-out the distance from bridge; found tree-stump. Sighted across road and reached into prickly hedge to find post with pipe nail. Measured back and, at the 3rd dig, found concrete (20 minutes). Took photos, tidied everything up... and then noticed the very obvious white-painted 'OS' and arrow with nail at the road edge 8-() Block is under a shallow covering of grass on a tidy verge.
