Spent some time digging around in the dense and wide hedgerow where the pillar is supposed to be. After a while dug out the farmer, he remembers it from many years ago, took me to the spot where it was - which agreed with the GR. He didn't rememeber when, why or who moved it. Good views west over towards Lacock and beyond.

Had not read previous reports. Spent ten minutes looking in hedges to no avail. However nice area - we were doing circular walk from Derry Hill.

There is a gap in the trees to the west of the lane adjacent to the former site of the pillar but nothing to see today because of the haze. Lacock at the bottom of the hill is a very pretty village and there is access land with a good view at Bowden Hill, a short walk to the south.
