Walked road back and approached trig though open field gate to west taking a beeline route. Farmland field top, used for grazing at date of visit but often arable. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces west, ~269. Vented through eastmost sight hole. 360 open outlook from top.

I'd looped round on the Cistercian Way from Newton, collecting a few caches. I noticed the gate was open off the road, but no activity in the field - plenty in the farm yard though. So I just went up from, and back to, the gate. Three minutes, simple.
