What a monster building; not exactly beautiful, but it certainly has presence. Built in 1869/70, and closed in 1999 since when it seems to be gradually decaying. Not so the nearby splendid Speedwell Tavern (Mennies) with its superb Edwardian pub interior. Shame I couldn't have tried one of the 160 single malt whiskies, but the car was waiting for me - had to settle for a coffee.

With a fairly worn benchmark too. :-)

CBM on NE corner of spire. Apparently built in memorial to Murray Cheyne who was the minister of St Peter's church a few 100m further along the road which is also an intersection station.
