Stayed the night at Milton Keynes youth hostel. Came up here whilst on my way to do some grocery shopping. Really difficult to imagine how the surrounding area looked before all of the development.

This is really a note log about the rivet mentioned by peregrinus a couple of logs down the page. Since MK is my home town, I am interested in finding it so I went to look today... From my calculations, careful study of high scale maps and a walk around with my trusty Etrex, I conclude that the rivet is located on teh flat roof of the building that bears the name Lloyds Court. The site is managed by a company in Oxford Street, London called LaSalle Property Management. There is no local contact. I think access is likely to be tiresome...

As already logged - this is an x-trig, it's a shame as it would of been a fitting memorial or tribute to the technology that made places like Milton Keynes possible.

Got caught up in the Christmas shopping traffic on the way to this one. For one horrible moment I thought I was going to have to go into a car park to bag it but the street adjacent to the old trig location is for permit holders only and was therefore free of traffic. Nipped out and took a photo before escaping again - that's the closest I'll come to a shop this month!

This trigpoint is quite obviously no longer in existance, considering what has happened to the area in recent years. What was a nice rural hill in the middle of North Buckinghamshire, is now slap bang in the middle of Central Milton Keynes (just behind the library, in fact) Took pictures of the area, which is now a small grassy open area with a few bushes, and a plaque denoting the fact that the area is an ancient site where tribal Saxon Chiefs used to meet for their Anual General Meeting of Bigwigs, to sort out who was killing whom and how many cows the victim's wife was going to have to pay in tribute. The 1960's OS map I have shows this trigpoint as a valid location, but it is not shown at all on the current one. Since they ripped everything up when they built the New City of Milton Keynes, I suspect it was taken away sometime between 1967 and 1975. I must put a cache here sometime...

The place it used to be.... The arrow marks the point my GPS says was the original place for the pillar.
