From Little Brampton following mapped paths. Initially the path was absolutely waterlogged with large pools of water to skirt past. The track up the steep slope was very muddy but once on the ridge the going was better. Atmospheric location at the edge of the old quarries.

Out for a couple of nights at Clun YHA with the intention of visiting my remaining pillars in the Presteigne/Knighton area. Left bike at Little Brampton to the North an followed ROWs. Beautiful nearby woods with wild flowers and singing birds. As previously noted, the pillar is not as shown on OS map, but in edge of wood. Clear of wood views out to Malverns and Hay Bluff. Nice sunny day.

In wooded area by old disused quarry. O.S 1;25,000 map appears to be wrong as shows the trig to the south of the wood. Circular walk from Presteigne via Ackhill, Offa's Dyke Path, Lower Harpton and Nash.

My final Herefordshire pillar and somewhat hard won on a stiflingly hot afternoon and awkward ascent from the south. The OS map is undoubtedly wrong as some quite mature woodland is missing from it to the east. Too many barbed wire fences for a high score, no bluebells left and no view from the pillar. However, the hill itself has a great panorama to the south.

A pleasant walk up from the village but the trig is in thick woodland at the edge of the disused quarries shown on the explorer map. Plug with indented lettering.
