Snow equals golf course trigs... out of the Airedale fog and on to the crisp tops, within walking distance of North Yorkshire and Lancashire.... some other time though as the stars come out over Goose Eye.

Fore(th) - see what I did there? - of 4 trigs 'beyond Keighley. Easy stroll up from Slaymaker Lane - stile into golf course then behind second tee across to the trig.

I parked up on Slaymaker Lane and took the PROW by the livery yard, approaching the golf course from the west. The pillar is immediately visible as you go through the stile onto the golf course - it is gleaming white, sat prominently in an area of rough next to a fairway. I waited on a bench for a group of golfers - none of whom batted an eyelid at my presence - to move off, and nipped over. The pillar has been painted in a very thick coat, covering the flush bracket and obscuring some damage to the top face. The paint on the spider has at least partly worn away. Lovely location, lovely views - well done groundskeepers for making the effort! I don't think you need permission here, just a little patience and common courtesy, and it's very straightforward to visit.

Parked on slaymaker lane and took PROW, Trig point on a golf course, it is slightly damage in top but does still have all its metal work, Love to see Trigs painted but this is losing its features because the spider and FB are over painted sadly

Parked on Slaymaker Lane. Took the public right of way up to Branshaw Golf Club, and crossed a fairway up to the pillar. Lots of golfers around, who did not mind me being there one bit. The pillar has been freshly painted, but unfortunately the paint completely conceals the spider!

Walked up a footpath from Slaymaker Lane, which leads to the golf course. Trigpoint easily visible to the right of the footpath. Seems to be well looked after by the greenkeepers. Afew friendly golfers around, so no time to admire the views.

I walked up on a revisit via Occupation Lane to the NE of pillar,after arriving Keighley on the 10.30 66 Dales bus from Skipton.Snowing heavy on the way up but had stopped by the time I reached Occupation Lane,some good photo's on a brilliant short walk.

golf course trig Wish I'd had a green jacket to put on it for a photo! nice and white but wish ppl wouldn't paint over the flush bracket and spider. Makes me want to come back with Nitromors, scraper and wire brush to bring it back to brass.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 13th March 1948 costing £12.18s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SE02/T3 in 1948. Levelled to Class 1 precision tertiary standards during 1962. Last maintained by the OS in June 1986. SITE VISIT: Approached from south at dusk. Ample urban parking in Slaymaker Lane at SE036391, ~100m off B6143. In via main entrance of Golf Club, social function on in club house. Followed paerimeter track around west side of course until in line with trig then beeline to summit. Visited at dusk so as not to disrupt play. Pillar in good condition with fresh coat of white paint. Spider retains original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters which is heavily over painted. ESE, compass measurement 102°. All four sight holes open, innards filled with debris. 248° panoramic view spans from NNW through east to SW, remainder blocked by trees in woods.

From Slaymaker Lane by entrance to ROW which i followed up alongside the wood, and across golf course to Trig which sits in a gravel surround and is in good condition and is painted white, no golfers about just dog walkers

Not visited fully - had to be content with a view from the footpath at the edge of a busy Branshaw golf course as I didn't think I'd be too popular if I strode across the busy fairways on a Saturday morning. One to re-visit when the course is empty. Trig looks well looked after at least from afar. Obviously adopted by the golf club - I would imagine it represents a 'hazard' in the club playing rules.

Nice panorama, no ball and stick people. Light covering of snow, naish wind. Looks like original plug under heavy paintwork. Four holes open. One of the top corners has had some streamlining done.

semi cobbled track up side of woods muddy. trig in good nick. whiteline round it on grass. is that to tell golfers its out of bounds. Doesn`t work with triggers !

Easily accessible and visible. I used the lane out of Oakworth and then the footpath along the edge of Branshaw Plantation to enter the golf course. Then it is just a detour round a green and a crossing of a fairway to reach the very visible pillar. Nicely painted white, including the plug, in its own well kept circle of red gravel. Beautifully maintained. Obviously any golfing had been abandoned because of the waterlogged conditions so I saw no one and therefore was unchallenged. Nice views over the surrounding area. Plug had indented lettering but as said, painted over. All holes open.

Came up along the ROW SW and (eventually) through the gap stile onto the golf course - the trig is approx 100 yards directly ahead across a fairway. It was a lovely day today so my expectation was that the ball & stick brigade would be out in force, there were a few about but I had lunch while I waited for a gap between them and it was no problem. There's the slightest bit of damage to the trig but I still consider it to be in good nick. Yes, ted, yes.

I chose a good day to visit this one. There was not a single golfer out, I presume it was due to the snow as it was otherwise a lovely Sunday afternoon. I have logged it has slightly damaged. Please see my photographs to see if the damage warrants a change of condition. Have a look at http://www.branshawgolfclub.org.uk/Course.htm for aerial photo. I think the trig is the white dot halfway between the number 12 and the arrow head on the 12th hole.

Bagging this one on a Saturday morning wasn't a good idea. Initial attempt rebuffed by golfers who insisted I keep to footpath. Waited until they'd gone then successful! Golf seems a waste of a landscape to me 8-)
