A second one today that I'd not realised I'd already been on 7/9/14. This time deep dusk with more gardening and air dry clay cast of FB that faces north. Cleared more of the gap to get through. Found next morning, I'd left my secateurs in the dark. Returned two days later for two more days trigging. They were exactly where I thought they'd be..!!

(362) Finding somewhere to park close to the trig was difficult today, so eventually had to settle for a spot next to the Village Hall, which meant getting there and back involved a decent walk. I also took the opportunity to call in at Field House Farm and then Carr-Dyke Farm to ask about permission to visit the pillar. The landowner wasn't about, but both neighbours said it wouldn't be a problem. It's then another good walk following the hedge line to the pillar. And as the hedge is pretty solid throughout, it's worth making sure that you have picked the right field side to walk down in order to view the FB. Previous logs certainly helped out there. A few hairline cracks are visible but nothing too major. I had thought this one would be difficult to bag, but all in all, it passed off well.

Not the easiest one to reach. A joint visit with Carole. We approached from the east by crossing a small strip of cultivated land - we managed to tiptoe through without damaging any of the crops. We then followed the south side of the hedge only to find that the pillar is on the north side. This meant a crawl through the hedge. So best to use the north side of the hedge but this will involve a deep ditch crossing immediately after the cultivated strip. Everything in good order and still retains an original plug.

My Landranger map seems to show this pillar in a slightly different location and as such it took me half-an-hour to locate it. It's in a hedge between two fodder fields. All intact - plug has deeply indented letters. Some white paint. NE sighthole open, the others closed. Moderate agricultural views - it was a bit murky today so I couldn't see the cathedral [or even the floodlights on Sincil Bank....].

Using binoculars I spotted the pillar in a hedge at the back of the field. I trekked across the large and very muddy field to find that I was on the wrong side of the pillar! There was no way I could get through the hawthorn hedge, though a smaller person might manage. I had to back track and drive round to the side of the field. Walked half a mile through another very muddy field, climbing through two hedges along the way. The pillar is whole, but no longer white. Nice views towards the Lincolnshire Wolds and Lincoln Cathedral. Arrived home to find this pillar is definitely missing. Spooky, it is nearly Halloween so maybe I have seen a ghost pillar.
