(238) This was a lot easier than i thought it would be , parked in front of reservoir gates, climbed up and over the top of the gate between the gate and the wire which isn't barbed, using the low wall inside to step down onto, pillar located to rear of compound with distant views over the potato fields and across towards Flamingo land, exited the reverse of my entry route. Bagged after a day/nighter in York with Melissa. We visited Clifford's Tower and went on the sunset Ouse cruise. This was the last thing to do before going home. Too many people and cars around to do anything silly, so viewed the pillar from the fence.

First trig of the North Yorkshire Holiday and first of the day with Storm Arwen rattling the East Coast. It is possible to climb the small man gate half way along the fence along the road side, but as the gales blew hard it blew me off of the top of the fence so viewed from a distance.

My intrepid little helper and I had a go at this one, knowing full well that it would be securely locked up... but it isn't really. There are at least half a dozen points where relatively easy access could be gained. The wire at the top of the fence isn't barbed, it's just plain plastic-wrapped fencing wire, and there are gaps and bent bits all over the place, not to mention a depression under the double gate - so getting in wouldn't be a problem, it would be a little more tricky getting out. And it's a fairly busy road, so perhaps an early visit might work. With a 5-year-old with me, I decided not to risk it this time, so a repeat visit is on the cards - probably after I've lost a few lbs... The pillar is clearly visible from the fence, and looks in superb as-new condition. It is just possible to make out the flush bracket. My companion elected not to count this one, as she hadn't touched it. A return it is then.

Parked at side of reservoir. As road was fairly quiet, jumped the gate, up steps to top. Nice to get hands on, fairly high fence though so need to be careful! Nice views.

Well i walked right round the fence to try find a way in, i was going to climb up a tree on the west side of the fence that is growing through the fence, then come over the same way when i spotted a workman in the compound so i nipped back round to the gate and exsplained to him what i was doing and could me and my wife have a little stroll round to the trig point to take a photo ? He did not know what a triangulation pillar was so i exsplained but then he said that we were not aloud on site due to health and saftey rules ! the misserable git ! so we went for a pud dinner in Welburn before visiting the church there !

Bus to Amotherby then up the bridleway. Condition of the pillar is good but it is also unreachable. Difficult to know which description to use in the log. Doesn't really matter I suppose.

I reckon that if someone were to go to the double gates at the right of the compound and were to stick their foot in the lock hole, then get up, they would find a gap through the top wire.

The reservoir area is now protected like Fort Knox. Had to be satisfied with close by views of the pillar. Even so the pillar looks to in excellent condition.

Clearly visible but unreachable, as Bergfuehrer predicted, on top of the reservoir. Had to use my binoculars to get the FB, which is 11040.

Passing by, expecting this one to have become inaccessible - but theres still a chance to visit. Mesh fence around all sides topped with wire. Access is still possible via a temporary gap at the roadside.

Yorkshire. I am only 3 days after Ted but can report quick progress on the fence. It is going up fast, is currently halfway round and will most likely be completed by the end of the week. It will not be a fence that can easily be climbed - it is a typical reservoir fence I'm sorry to report. The future looks like being "unreachable but visible".

Plug intact; one sighting-hole open. On top of NW corner of the reservoir on the E side of the compound. Gates in place, fence posts but no fence as yet - looks like it will be chainlink (could be worse). Overcast but limited views N. Thanks to IRM for the alert.

Hazy & muggy today but a good view of the arable vale. The trig is on the reservoir with the noticable aerial on it (TV type). Done on a lengthy Malton circular hike. No cars, on foot.
