Parked on the B4520 and walked up the tracks that led onto the hill. So chuffed to bag my first dragon trig and the views across to the mountains were absolutely stunning for relatively little effort - a perfect wee hill to start our Welsh adventures :-)

Pillar is easily accessible at Brecon Camp after climbing the hill. It's surprising that the bottom part of the pillar is encased in stone bricks for some reason.

Parked NW in the layby walked up the wet muddy path as I reached the trig the sun went into hiding and it turned wintery. The trigs plate is hidden I wanted to do this one for a while it looked a bit different and there are amazing views.

An evening stroll to bag this one.Parked in housing estate opposite PROW, took PROW straight to Pillar, trig in great condition with all its metal work, does now have a wall of armour around it protecting the flush bracket. Great views off in all directions

2/5 Today. Parked in lay-by to the north. Quick walk up muddy path to the top. Spectacular views of the Beacons. Pillar has been enveloped by an outer stone cladding. Pity they didn’t leave the FB visible. One of my favourite spider and plug combo’s, deeply etched.

Revisit. Another quick 20 minute walk up to this one, from the North side on a good bridleway. As you reach the plateau rings of the Hill fort come into view, a few like this in the area worth having a walk around, see what others saw in the past! More great views from the top of the Fans and Brecon ,and a super job done on the trig base with stone, could have been damaged in past as logged but no damage visible now! 1 mark deducted for not being able to see the Flush Bracket! Spider in place and cap. Top painted white with Red Dragon and some initials!!

This was worth the steep yomp through the fields, parked in the housing estate and made my way up. Rewarded with stunning views of the beacons, dry weather meant crisp views. Couldn’t see the FB due to the stone built up around it, my first dragon trig 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

walked in from brecon on marked paths to west of hill, which were in filthy condition, then a mile or so of road to climb hill from north west, hence arrived in semidarkness lit by full moon rising under raining clouds. As earlier pics show, pillar reemerging from its stone cladding!

Great location with excellent views of the Beacons. Can't think why they encased the pillar in stone - tantamount to vandalism really. The trig is in the process of re-emerging though. Is the FB still there I wonder?

Parked in lay-by to north. Nice walk up obvious footpath. The trig is three quarter stone clad, with a Welsh dragon painted on the bit sticking out. Could not confirm the FB but sure it is the right one.

Logging this well after visit in 2014. At the time stone that had encased pillar was gradually being picked off, but not sufficient to see flush bracket. Marked as slightly damaged, but that's the casing stone. Done on a round walk (OS Pathfinder guide Brecon Beacons and Glamorgan - walk 19).

Visit as part of encircling landwithsacreddance ' four others. Unpleasantly in local stone with just top third in view. Chatted with Canadian couple from near vancouver. Seems. Top third has only. Been re-revealed in last year. Went circle dancing in Brecon cathedrals in the evening with group us. Lovely

Walked up from Brecon on a cold but partly sunny morning. The pillar had been completely encased in a local stone, but this has been partially removed to show approx 1/3 of a white painted pillar. More stones need to be removed to expose the FB. Original cap in place. As to be expected views to the northern escarpment of the of the highest peaks in the Brecons are outstanding - and all of them covered in deep snow at the moment - a lovely view.

Cycled up and met two American ladies at the top who were very nice to chat to. Pillar did not have a bracket unusually. And indeed no evidence that one ever existed. Great views all around with brooding clouds at altitude.

Parked in Heol Y Ffynnon off Cradoc Road, walked through bollards and turned into field, then straight up hill. ( A little time and effort can be saved by taking a route slightly to left of first hill in sight). Just a few sheep and young lambs in fields, a pair of red kites shadowed us all the way to the top, skylarks very much in evidence. Earthworks of ancient fort clearly visible just before pillar is reached. Pity about the mist, views from here must be outstanding on a clear day.

Highly visible and easily accessible. I parked in the reclamation area to the north and just followed bridleway then walked paths to the summit. Original pillar now encased in a stone cladding so only the damaged top remains visible. Presumably there is a flush bracket somewhere behind this cladding. Super viewing location - could see for miles on a lovely spring morning.

A sunset bag for this slightly "different" trig in a rather lovely spot. Great views over Brecon and to Pen y Fan. Walked up from Brecon on well marked path through cow field ( my least fave type; don't like the way they look at me). Someone was using it as a camera mount when arrived.

It is assumed that the pillar is damaged and that the stone facing has been provided to protect it. This may also be hiding the flush bracket which is not visible. Only the tripod mount on the top identifies this as a trig point and there is damage around this. Excellent views of the Beacons from here ... but not on a day like this!

After a nondescript midlands trig for 200 I wanted something special for number 300 and I couldn't have made a much better choice. Overlooking Brecon town with a full panorama of the north faces of all the beacons summits. Clear damage appearing on the top face of the revised trig structure.

Logging this retrospectively from 2010 so date is approximate but I've visited this trig several times as I spent my childhood in Brecon. This was my most recent visit with my wife and daughter. Brilliant views.

White painted standard pillar at top of Pen-y-crug, a grassy fortified hill, grazed by sheep, and with views over Brecon and the Brecon Beacons.
