As per others logs. From the B4363 to the N, parking in a layby near the roundabout at SO 7293 9362. Situated not far from the footpath which is very overgrown in places, near to the edge of a steep sandstone cliff, offers exceptional views across bridgnorth and the severn valley, also Titterstone Clee in the distance.

From the B4363 to the N, parking in a layby near the roundabout at SO 7293 9362. Nice sandstone escarpment with extensive views west. Pillar has a severe fracture at FB level running horizontally round it, and 2 chunks of concrete missing near the base. Centre cap is an excellent composite replica; all sight hole open.

Parked on Elmhurst. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from the end of that road, which heads first east, then south east, and then north, up to SO 72812 93219. Left the PRoW at that point and headed north west up a path to the pillar, which is in a lovely setting at the summit of Hermitage Hill, with great views of Bridgnorth and the surrounding areas to the west. The cap was missing, so I replaced it. There is a crack in the column to the left hand side of the flush bracket

Parked car in the Stanmore Country Park car park and cycled to this forst trig of the day. FP off B4363 is quite good as it taked to directly to the Trig. Good views over Bridgenorth.

Parked in the layby on the eastbound side of the Wolverhampton Rd approx. 100m west of the roundabout, then a short pavement walk, a hairy road crossing, and uphill past some excellent interesting geology to the trig. The pillar has a crack in the side, the centre plug is gone, but otherwise it is OK, and there is a great view from it, just a shame about the abundant beercans littering the area ...

I walked up from the housing estate below but the footpath alongside the B4363 was overgrown, forcing me out into the road in a couple of places. Then the footpath changes side on a bend causing you to need to cross the road again to pick up the PROW. Finally a rather brambly push through to the pillar to be rewarded with a good view of Bridgnorth. As others have noted, the pillar is cracked, the plug is missing and a fire has been set against the pillar.

Easy stroll up from The Grove housing estate, Pillar located on top of sandstone cliff, looks like a hangout area, nice enough views. Pillar cracked at FB height.

Logged on a circular walk around the east side of Bridgnorth. Some litter around the pillar and evidence of a recent fire against one of the faces. Relatively good views over the town and beyond to the Clee Hills.

Parked in the narrow lay-by on B road immediately W of roundabout on A454 then walked downhill to use the footpath to gain the trig with a view and then along to the reservoir for completeness with Alex and Smudge.

large horizonal crack around 1/4 way up but not showing any sign of further deterioration. cap missing. grafitti. its a fair good view on a clear day. today not one of them though. Caves nearby now fenced off following accident a few years back.

The pillar stands near the edge of a small sandstone cliff to the east of Bridgnorth. It was reached from the housing estate on the lower slopes of the hillside to the south of the cliff. My approach included walking alongside the fenced off Hermitage Caves set into the side of the cliff. The pillar has a noticeable crack at the height of the sight holes and flush bracket. Its spider lacks a cap or plug. It has FB S1931. Visibility was rather poor today but there was a view over the town to the misty wooded hills beyond.

From the Grove housing estate to SW, up steps and over stile. Ignore path to right and bear half left, up hill over grass on path which reaches wood boundary and then follow it N. Look for metal gate at base of cliff face - turn right to find path to trig. Steep at first.

Plug missing. The crack in the pillar is possibly getting worse. Nice sandstone edge with semi-view back to town. Bridgnorth (like Ludlow) seems to be one of those places where pedestrians never look to see where they are going :)

Left the bike by the main Wolverhampton road near the summit, and followed the well signed and used footpath.March and I'm in shorts and short-sleeved top on a warm sunny day. Good views of the town, usually missed as I swoop down the hill, or fight my way up it!

In need of a new paint job, and even a new plastic plug! but the trig itself fine I think. Splendid views over the town, access interesting from the housing to the SW, but including a nice short scramble up sandstone cliff face, as on lonesum took a easy route!

On a small grassy terrace out of the sweet chestnuts above some of Bridgnorth's sandstone caves. Quite a lot of white paint, and the tribracket has also been painted white. The plug is missing but a large candle has been wedged into the hole!! A fire has also been recently started by the NE face, and on this face there is some blue graffiti. All sightholes are open. Lovely views over Bridgnorth to the west; to Clee Hills SW; and the Wrekin NW. No east views due to woodland. Easy acces via footpath off the main Bridgnorth - Wolverhampton road.

With Nibbo. We walked along a footpath that disappeared at times so got nettled. Gave it 8 marks as the view was worth the Climb. Photos added.

The Hermatage: Another in the chestnut woods. A path goes quite close, winding in and out of old quaries and passing caves in the soft sandstone. Nearby there is a very good view of the town from a an open crag top.
