The pillar is situated next to a clump of trees on the summit of common land on a hill to the east of Bromyard. It has a coat of peeling white paint, lacks a cap or plug and FB S3828. The trig was easily reached by a short stroll up from the car park through areas of open grass, bluebells and young bracken. There is a view eastwards from the trig over rolling farmland and woods to the Malvern Hills. The nearby topography has a clearer view north to Abberley Hills. It is pleasant area for a gentle stroll while waiting for the pub to open.

Parked on the small road/track just to the West and walked the short way up to the top. Visited the Millennium Toposcope first, as that is what we came to first. This would have great views from it if the cloud wasn't so low. The trig is ok, but looking at some of the photos of it, I think it would be better visited when there are no leaves on the trees. A 7 score because of the area/views form the topo! Me, Mum 152m

This was a very nostalgic visit! I spent many happy hours as a kid with my Mum and Dad and grandparents on Bringsty Common often culminating in a picnic outside "The Live and Let Live" inn. This was one of the rare pubs that had no vehicular access and I well remember the brewer's dray having to stop on the A44 and the draymen rolling the beer barrels down the hill to the pub. Sadly, the pub is no more - and yet the framework of its sign still hangs on the side of the A44 right by the carpark where you park to get the pillar. The pillar is in good shape apart from a missing plug and has obviously been recently repainted white. Has it been adopted? It's in a ring of huge horse chestnut trees where I gathered conkers in my youth! There are excellent views all around and there is a relatively new toposcope about 100 yards from the trig. Glad to have been back!

Pillar is white painted making it easy to find in the dark. Its in a clump of trees, and in good shape, just the plug missing. Tube full of fircones and leaves. Oh and the database is wrong. Bringsty Common is definitly in Herefordshire.
