Reached the top of this little hill at the end of a fascinating walk around Lancaster's historical quay area with my good friend Mark. Highlights included the Millennium Bridge, the Maritime Museum, the Roman Baths and the River Lune itself with a very high spring tide. From the pillar of Brookholme I could look down on the fields at Marsh Point that our family farmed for 4 generations This land was severely flooded in 1927 when my grand father rescued stranded TB patients at the Sanatorium and 1977 when i was sent out to reach a drowning cow attached to a washing line at 2am in the morning. That's a lot of memories for a 33m high trig

A joint visit with Carole. We parked at the road junction to the NNE. Then entered the field by climbing the gate at the south of the new houses (formerly Brookholme farm??). Then simply ascended the field to reach the pillar. It is in good condition but the plug is missing leaving the top open to the elements. A good viewpoint from which to look over the Lune estuary.
