Parked in the walkers car park at Broughton Place and headed up via John Buchan Way, Broomy Side and Green Law, following the fenceline to the trig...rather a rollercoaster of a walk, however the views from the top were very impressive. Coincidentally, we had an aerial view of this very range of hills from our plane heading back to Glasgow Airport on Saturday night! The trig was sadly looking a bit worse for wear on one of the bottom corners.

Revisit. Approached from south. Walkers' car park kindly provided at Broughton Place, NT119374. Followed mapped path to NT123393, then unmapped path by fenceline via Broomy Side and Green Law to summit. Open grazing hills. Pillar stands northwest of fenceline. Column is worse for wear, has been crumbling near the bottom of the west edge for many years. Spider retains replacement OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces WNW, ~299. Vented through SE sight hole. Spectacular 360 panoramic view.

Pillar is crumbling away in the Lanark area tradition. However it still has its plug, not bad for a popular summit.

Excellent day out, rounded off with a late lunch of haggis neaps and tatties at the tearoom in the village :-)
