Easy find from the road, parked in the lay-by on the opposite side, through the gap in the hedge and followed the path straight up. Beautiful on a frosty day, would have made a lovely Christmas card!

There’s a lay-by on the east side of the road almost at the top of the road through the common, discovered having parked on the roadside lower down and walked up. There are paths through the common which is probably easier than fighting through brambles and gorse at the top of the road. Reasonable views to north west.

Bagged this one just as the sun was setting. Good condition pillar, accessed from a sandy path opposite the large layby, and easily spotted on a mound near the road.

Beer can in the top slot is no substitute for the original bung, but otherwise other than weathering in OK condition. A nice geocaching route made for a nice walk.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 17th January 1937 costing £4.5s.9d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SU54/T8 in 1953. Levelled for height to class 1 precision at tertiary standards in 1973. Last maintained by the OS in 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from southeast. Parked at small layby to the south and walked up sandy track running north beginning at the road opposite the layby. Three chipped corners, original OS cap missing and replacement asphalt cap missing too. Flush bracket faces SSE, compass measurement 161°. One sight hole open. Visited this trigpoint whilst out geocaching.

Across the saturated flooded land to reach this trigpoint - many trees down, fields under water, some lanes & roads closed; and still it goes on. And no sign of a respite. Eventually walked (squelched) up to this pillar: no cap/open, one sight hole open, three chipped corners, otherwise fine, then splashed away back into the deluge (yes, it was raining again.) Later in the car, just had to play Dylan's 'Down In The Flood' (Sandy Denny's version), and Led Zep's 'When The Levee Breaks.'

Located just into an area of Hampshire heathland close to a minor road with a convenient layby just about opposite the trig. For several years in the 1980's we lived within a mile of this trig and despite regularly visiting the common then, today was the first time we had seen the trig. Had to visit here on the way home after 6 days bagging hills and trigs in SE England - we managed 26 trigs and 25 hills.

Almost at the side of the road with some handy parking close by. Pillar is in good condition although the metal plug has long gone the tarmac type one that replaced is now also missing so that the top is open to the elements. Obviously a ver popular area for walking as there semed to be paths in every direction.

Located on an area of common land, quite accessable and in good condition. About 18 inches from the pillar is the top of a buried pipe, about 2 inches in diameter. Anything to do with the trigpoint? There seems to be no other reason for it to be there.

Unusually for us who normally walk to these things, a drive by (ie short walk from a parked car). En route back from a short walk from Hedley Down via Bramshott Court (rather an amazing pile).
