Did this one as part of my 60th Birthday Celebrations - absolutely loved it - walked from train station - great countryside walk and the walk up to the trig is great too - fab walks and views - loved this one - had a dram at the trig to welcome in my 60s.

TP1721 - S5519 Brunt Knott - it was windy and pretty cold but fair was a good walk - Rocco enjoying the views

Bit of a wander around some of the lower hills above Kentmere. Parked near factory. Capple Howe, Sour Howes and Sallows in the dry. Dropped through Kentmere. Back up to Hollow Moor, Cocklaw Fell, Sleddale Forest, Brunt Knott, Millrigg Knott. Wetter after Kentmere.

Walked from Garnett Bridge and visited the Birketts on Potter Fell that were omitted in Bill Birketts book - access issues. All on good paths and lovely grassy fells, very Pennine in nature, however Brunt Knott was a typical Lakes stone pillar. A magnificent October day with clear views. Perhaps miserable in rain and clag. I gift today's pillar to towns/cities that are bike friendly and have allocated footpaths/lanes.

Parked in Staveley. Minor road to Brunt Knott then the bridleway up to summit. A stone pillar the spider is infilled and painted yellow. The drifting rain clouds did allow me odd glimpses of Crinkle Crag and the high lake land mountains to the NW.

Parked on Hall Lane on grass verge near junction and seat. Walked firstly up road towards Brunt Knott farm and through farm on footpath following wall out onto the fellside. When due South of trig turning up hill to follow quad tracks to top. Lovely and sunny now , the calm before storm Ellen arrives.

Parking at SD 4762 9989 - room of a car at end of the barn. Walked up through Brunt Knott Farm on a PRoW, then veered off piste to the trig. Nice stone-built pillar with extensive panoramic views. Centre cap replaced with a composite plug, painted bright yellow! All sight hole sealed.

A lovely spot in an unfrequented corner of the Lake District. Did this walk with my friend Jeremy, who used to work at Brunt Knott Farm 40 years ago. He had lots of stories of digging sheep out of snow drifts and tractors sliding down hillsides in pre quad days. There were really good views of the heads of the Kentmere and Longsleddale valleys. The pillar itself is sat on a pleasing plinth of Silurian rock.

Parked at the church half-way up Longsleddale (the only car parking areas are there or at the top end of the dale). Walked back down the dale road then used the footpath through Bridge End. After the stile over the wall near 491 006 we made a bee-line for the summit. The going was rough and there was a barbed wire fence in the way, so on the way down we took the easier option and used the path SE from the summit, which crossed the fence by a stile, then made for the stile over the wall. There's a benchmark carved in a rock near to the trig. Views glorious on a clear winter's day.

On a round of four of Wainwright's Outlying Fells. There is an arrow on nearby rock pointing to trig. There is also a FB on the side of St. James's church in Staveley S6849 - can't find any reference to it.

My final Lake District trig pillar. Parking for two cars where public road ends at NY476000 and if that's taken, room for one car on south verge, west of junction at SD476998. Followed mapped RoW through Brunt Knott Farm and onto highpoint then NNW to summit. Stone built secondary station pillar in good condition. Completed in June 1949 costing £12.13s.6d. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces 152° (SE). Vented through SW sight hole. 360° panorama from top.

Nice walk from Staveley, bright and sunny above us, but cloud all around. Much snow still on higher fells, path to Potter Tarn blocked with gate high snow drift, so returned the way we had come.
