Excellent drive in via the Irfon Valley and Devil's Staircase. Approached trig via track from SW. A very unpleasant push through the conifers required to access the pillar. Top right corner (as viewed from fb side) has slightly crumbled.

walk in from south then across 200metres of felled forest graveyard, which is unecessary had I realised there is a closer track to the forest edge above the grassy escarpment and finally ghastly push through 100 metres of dense young 3-5metre high pine trees

Very difficult to reach now as trees have grown very dense. Followed a ditch as far as possible, then pushed way through trees. Watch those pine needles!

Small clearing in middle of an immature conifer plantation, long trousers, thick jacket and gloves essential - pine needles are sharp! GPS required also, not sure this would have been located without one. Felling operations were ongoing by 2 machines today, both in view whilst walking in on access road from SW. Pillar very mossy and has a horizontal hair fracture around its middle. Original cap in place, deeply indented lettering. Sight holes not checked. Needless to say - no views.

Buried in conifers once more - well over head height and very dense - and needles extremely sharp. Almost impossible to find without the grid ref. Pretty miserable, even on a fine autumn day!

Headed NE up the nearby track until close to pillar, then struck out NW through 3m-tall saplings towards pillar, gently climbing to high point. Found it almost immediately in a small clearing. This was the second TP on a 15-mile circular walk from Abergwesyn, which also took in the TP at Cefn Goch. On the way back, superb views down the valley of the Irfon from the track high above, on the east side of the forest.

Well if it were this one its inaccessible no more (the other candidate is also being felled as we speak with an access land closure for a few more months) very recent felling and another excellent view opening up
