Parked to the NW, then up the bridleway. Where the map showed another bridleway coming in from the left, we just headed off piste south to the trig, initially along a line of grouse butts, and climbing a fence en route. A lot of bailing needed (had brought jugs and sponge). but managed to get the water out quicker than it ran back in.

Found large hole adjacent the wooden peg. Cleared out and disposed of a large lump of soggy peat, then a copious amount of more liquid peat. The ring is quite rough, no lettering seen. Large Bolt at centre. Did not put anything back in the hole.

Ring in water about 15cm deep - had nothing with me to bail, so did not see block, but felt it. Only recently found out about ring - on a summit visit 11yrs ago there was a lemonade bottle in the vicinity!!

From Grinton via Apedale. From the fence, aiming for the highest point, marker post was visible at approx 50 yards away. GPS useful as a sanity check but not essential. Hole waterlogged; bailing successful this time. Trig in fair condition but couldn't make out any lettering. Good views across Swaledale. Congrats once again to CJO.

Concrete ring. 2.5” bolt buried in peat about 1 foot down. Hole filled with water as fast as bailed. Located by old wooden post previously identified by amblerbob. GPS not working on new phone! Typical!

Virgin Moss concrete ring around roughcast block. unable to identify any writing on ring , slightly weathered and covered in peat.
Virgin Moss block buried some 1 foot deep adjacent to old marker post. 2 other short stumps adjacent. Spoil to side is from the hole. I replaced the grassy tussock in hole upon leaving site. but large depression remains.
