Parked to SW at SE0172583677, plenty of parking space by the cattle grid. Up the bridleway to access land then diagonally aross moorland to the wall along the ridge leading to the trig. Went up on east side of wall, back down west side: a couple of walls to climb either route. Hole still open and easy to find but needed several litres of peat soup bailing out to expose the bolt.

Excavation dry! Light covering of peat, bolt itself exposed, after a dry spell. Up from NW Cote, following line of old pivot BMs

Obvious, large excavation in the heather peat moor, half full of water, nothing to bail with (other than hands), temps well below zero with wind chill - but what's a bagger to do? Bailed to the ring, hands refused to do more to reveal the bolt, but could feel it, so know it's there. Great find by cjo.

Remarkable find by CJO. Possibly faint lettering on the SW edge of the Ring. Warm sunny day - no bailing needed; just a clean with a rag. To/from Aysgarth via DalesBus.

From Carlton, could not find buried block. GR gives position by wall. Neither of the nearby cairns are at the given grid reference. Onto Penhill now. Lovely day with good views.
