I can remember seeing the sugar beet factory in operation during the 1970s and 1980s but have no date to use as a log. The replacement power station was originally gas-fuelled but a straw burning plant was added later. Certainly several lorry loads of straw bales arrived in a short time.

The chimney location was where the building stands that has trunking on the roof, in the centre of the picture.

Factory gone; now power station. Short distance along a pleasant footpath with dragonflies zipping about.

(194) Drove down to the bottom of Silversides Lane, and then walked the rest of the way. The Beet factory closed in the early 90s, and it has now been replaced with a modern straw burning power station.
