parked at bottom of Ceiriog trail by Tynyfron and followed obvious route up. the two lines on the map indicate a newer wire fence which is the nearest the road and then tumbledown ancient wall. upon initial inspection we held out very little hope of locating this block. As the wall has toppled over the years the grass has then grown over the fallen stones.. these in turn then have been covered by later falls and all around the vicinity of the wall is grass covered stones. Having got the location down to within a few metres i unleashed the last ditch secret weapon. A metal detector app on my android phone. I held out little hope it would work and yet scanning over the ground suddenly a spike in the readings.. I started removing the stones on the surface, then those underneath then further down when all of a sudden a corner of concrete!! unbelievably the metal detector app had picked up the brass rod... under 8 inches if grass and rock! block now uncovered and a bit of a stone pile built on end of wall.

tape measure marks the spot excavated block. note the pile of stones at end of wall.
Found you!! took some finding..but no doubt as to the authenticity of the item.
location assistance End of the wall with cairn like pile now marking the location of the block.
