(775) Parked at the crossroads, and walked back for a minute or two to the pillar. Nettles trampled down, so this one has been recently visited. Situated in the hedge, but pretty visible, though the top is obscured a bit. Non original plug, and apart from some minor damage around the top it's all good. And checking out others peoples photos on here, I'm struck by how much of a lean to it there was, but it wasn't really noticeable today. As others have noted, there is some pretty extensive views to be had from this point. Pillar history: Built on the 7th of March 1951, at a cost of £14 19s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in February of 1985.

I parked near the church in Londesborough and walked around the triangle of quiet lanes to the pillar. It's on the south side of the lane and is leaning to the left with slight damage to the top. Extensive views over the Vale of York, slightly hazy today. On the lane returning to the village at the bottom of Cleaving Coombe there is a bench and a board showing the highlights of this fine Yorkshire panorama, well worth a visit. Made a day of this by visiting Market Weighton for fish and chips and a stroll down the old disused track bed of the Beverley railway line to St Helen's Well, again worth a visit. Great day.

Nine days ago, Tues17th this was the third of three unseen trigs in a row, 'buried' in hawthorn, that constituted 'Tears of a trig pillock. Trig free Tuesday' I didn't find it due entirely to fact of having only my 1.50k map with me and not having clear idea which field boundary it was on and not then having good new phone with internet access to TPUK. I walked up and down both sides of the inside hedge edge. Back home at the computer on TPUK and Streetmap 1.25k I soon found, much to my utter frustration and embarrassment, that all three were there and that I'd walked right past all three of them!!! Nine days on, visiting the same three in reverse, this was the first and I came with son Jamie, 1.25k map and most important equipment, secateurs and folding saw. Parking at the same roadside place , I knew exactly where to look and was hyper embarrassed to see the base of it from the road when I had hunted up and down the inside of the hedge without success. A comprehensive pruning on north side left it able to bask in full roadside view again. FB also on this north face.
