On walk along Moray Coastal path from Burghead to Lossiemouth.Easy to access, pillar in good condition.Views to Caithness although cloud obscuring some of the hills. is of 4 trigs today, the others done after I had finished this walk

Fab views over the water. Trig is on a small mound right behind and mod comms site. Unfortunately the stabbies have grown considerably since the last log. Easiest route up was from behind the mod site.

Second trig in 4 trig: 4 types outing. Pulled in at entrance to tarred track off B9040. Lovely walk with the Caithness 'hills of home' clearly visible on one of those perfect summer mornings. Trig on small hillock just outside MOD compound. FB in place but no cap. Pillar structure sound. This one reminded me of Knighton Down which I visited around this time last year..

A brisk walk along the coastal path to mark the first sunrise of the new year at this local trig point. Aiming to do 99 more this year in a similarly low carb way.

Pulled into a field entrance off the Broad, to S of the trig (NJ 1713 6973); walked from there. Pillar is mounted on a small mound overlooking an RAF comms compound; appropriately the gorse has been burned off around the trig. Top cap missing, no plug; RHS sight hole open. Extensive views.

Revisit for photographs and GPS reading. Overall approach from west. The logical parking spot at NJ179701 was already full so I opted to park just into the wide track at NJ159693, not being willing to risk my suspension by going any further. Followed mapped tracks until NNW of trig then followed overgrown track SSE to top. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces SSW, ~192°. Vented through SE sight hole. 360° open outlook.

Log #99. Easy access, and a simple walk up. The pillar is tucked behind the MoD compound on a small hillock. The whins have been significantly stripped back, although they are starting to sprout again. [ExP-91/MiP-1/BM-7]

Interesting spot with all the monitoring equipment. Struggle to spot the trig but went low and under gorse and soon found it.

Middle of spider missing, had to fight through gorse to get to trig but worth it, first one we've logged looking forward to finding more

Hard to get to for gorse but good view of Moray firth and Lossie base.

Me at the pillar 10 feet high gorse to clamber through but good view once I got there.

This is now surrounded by 6ft high gorse. Will need to return with saw and secateurs.

First visit. To record FB number. Pillar completed 7th February 1953 costing £17.14s.3d. The flush bracket was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in September 1953. Computed as secondary triangulation station NJ06/4 within the Nairn block during 1956. This station had also been used for the reconnaissance of secondary block NJ45 (Elgin) back in 1953. This pillar was last maintained by the OS on 6th December 2000. One of many trigs visited in this area while on holiday in Mulben. This was to be my northmost trig bag for many years to come.
