5th visit, passing by and stopped off to take a GPS reading for our own records. There's a little damage to the NE top corner but not so much as to warrent a change of condition yet. The ground around the pillar has been levelled off since last visit and the pillar is now very easily reached by going through the double gate 10m S of the pillar and walk back up to it without having to negotiate the BWF and risking damage to your clothing or private parts! The adjacent manure pile seems to ebb & flow, it's currently back but not as big as it was on our visit July '20. ~~ 08/10/22 4th visit, and what a vast improvement to the views. Even the manure pile has gone too! ~~ 18/07/20 3rd visit, box ticked for Storm. Smart new configuration of gates, less smart large pile of manure in close proximity to the TP.

Just off the road through a gate. Trig behind a barbed wire fence and on very uneven ground. Care must be taken in reaching it. Nice views on the day visit.

A quick roadside bag when in the area. The vegetation around the trig was very overgrown so I didn't bother louping the fence to tap the trig however I'd have been able to reach it with a hiking pole if I'd bothered to go back to the car so as far as I'm concerned it counts as a bag ;-)

Easy to spot on the roadside, through a gate, about ten yards on the left of the track. Location a bit untidy at the moment, as storm damaged trees being cleared. Very windy, long views good to Alnham and Simonside. Not far from the legendary Star pub in Netherton

Easy road side trig. The hard part was getting out of the car the strong winds almost blowing my off my feet. Didn't stay too long.

Uninspiring roadside location next to a farm muck pile. Go through the gate & its a few yards on the left. Reasonable views but there are much better trigs to find in the area.

K Parked by gate on road to nip to trig which is just inside the strip plantation behind barbed wire (wooden fencing in plantation corner) approx 20m from the gate. Views better than position.

17/03/18 An afternoon revisiting three local roadside TPS with the bairn and the dawg trying to capture views of the recent snow. 29/09/16 Visited 2 very contrasting TPs today - this one, roadside, very little clear view; and 4 miles away the splendid Linbrigs which afforded a decent walk and commanding and majestic views. Guess which one gets the higher score! Nothing else to add about this one that others haven't said before...

This trig point has a backdrop of trees protecting its east side. Sadly it stands adjacent to a rather large steaming manure heap. Couldn't see it at first. The mid day sun didn't help. Parked on road next to gate. Muddy 30m return walk.

Almost a roadside trig. Just inside the field at the side of some woodland. Unfortunately the field is used as a manure dump so wellies are needed to wade through the gateway manure run-off. Pillar in good codition except for a missing plug. Not avery inspiring location but lets be thankful that the pillar is still here.

Revisit. HISTORY: Pillar completed 26th February 1954 costing £22.14s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NT72/T14 within the Jedburgh secondary block during 1957. Levelled for height to Class 1 precision, tertiary standards during 1958. Last maintained by the OS in August 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from north, near left edge of field. Located 17.4 metres into field to south of public road, quiet enough to park on. Long term adjacent dung heap. Empty grass field at date of visit. Low headroom over pillar, overhanginig branched from neighbouring wood. Column in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces north, compass measurement 353°. Vented through east sight hole. Unable to get a decent GPS signal due to tree coverage. Outlook limited given the surroundings.

Pillar completed 26th February 1954. Tertiary station in Block NT72, Jedburgh. OS plug was missing from spider by 1999. FB faces north. Massive dung heap nearby. Although seemingly rural, this one appeared to have 'suffered' too many visitors for being too near to the road. FB photograph somewhere.
