Didn't find it. Because It's gone from reservoir top about 8-10 months ago as I found from unhappy landowner when he caught me red-handed on top of his well manicured lawn reservoir top with loppers cutting back bramble and gorse at SE end looking in vain for a pillar that wasn't there. He had every right to be angry as he threw me off his property as I'd gone through a gate marked private, and moved a couple of railings blocking the northern stairs up on to the reservoir. Trig's back beside his house, wherever that is. I wonder & hope, if at some stage he might find a bit of ground out on road side near his house to resurrect it so we can all see it again sometime. Maybe next visitor can ask the next door neighbours to the north where he lives, so we can ask him what the plans are for re-siting it somewhere where it can be accessible to everyone.

My third negative review, Knowsley Hall & High Warren Reservoir the previous two...With his car parked alongside the second barrier from the farm & us just walking the other side of it in search of an approach to the hidden trig, the landowner locking or unlocking the barrier looked on us in surprise. Politely asking were we OK in accessing the trig his abrupt reply along with something on the lines of the land being private was "absolutely not". He reckoned he'd been in touch with the 'hillbagging people' & that he'd removed the trig to his back garden. Maybe he has but we didn't believe him but were none the less most polite in response to him. Annoying in the fact that we'd diverted a coupl'a miles from The Wirral Way we were undertaking in an effort to bag not only the four Wirral Trigs but the wày also.

Easy to locate the res on the brow of the hill N of Burton but getting to the trig is nigh impossible unless you find an easy way through thick gorse or trespass. I asked the bloke in the nearby cottage if I could gain access through the paddock which had a couple of midget donkeys and climb over the barrier blocking the steps to the reservoir top. He said it wasn't his, the owner comes often and maybe if I waited he may turn up. Apparently it's grassed topped with views across the Dee estuary into N Wales and the trig is accessible in the SW corner.

Oh well.
