Driving back from a coupe of day sin Liverpool so took the opportunity to just nip off the M62 for this easy bag. Our visit coincided with rush hour so the road was pretty busy but I thought I'd park up as best I could for a quick photo. Didn't hang around long enough to really see any virtue of the location, slight glimpse of Mersey estuary seemed to be the only slight positive.

In the area visiting a friend in Penketh so I stopped on the way home to bag this easiest of trigs. I'm delighted that it has survived the building of roads and paths around it. Hopefully that will afford it some protection for generations to come.

Parked on Clay Lane and walked up to the pillar, which can be found on a strip of grass between the road and cycle path. The pillar, and the land it and the cycle path lie on, used to be part of the field adjacent to the cycle path. Unfortunately, half the flush bracket is buried below the surface!

The new cycle path next to it means you don't have to climb into a field or get muddy boots. It looks a bit odd just next to the road though - not very scenic!

Easy bag but not quite the easiest ever. Skylarks singing below the swaggering clouds, heavy rain most of the day so this is a brief bag, hope we stop building huge destructive warehouse sheds one day...another of those fine pillars where you feel the OS were having a break from clever awkward siting.

It seems a strange place for a trig point to me as 30 feet away it is difficult to see.... I thought the whole idea of trig points was that they can be seen from miles away!

Grass been cut around trig so stands out very well. Seems an odd place to have one, due to it being very flat around the area. View was nice as could see across the fields and see the equestrian centre giving a class.

Quick nip off the M62 on route to Childwall.Road was very quiet,so parked by side of pillar once i'd spotted it,the grass was nearly to top of pillar.Pillar in good nick,original plug and BsM type flush bracket.Didn't really look around to take in the view,or lack of,as it was chucking it down.

On the way back from L'Pool airport, with Head Office (the wife) dropping off my son returning to Spain. Trig is easy to find on left side of road to Burtonwood. The road is fast and busy, there are a couple of places to pull in but watch out for traffic. It was clear when I got there and could see for miles though HO said it was a daft place for a trig as it was so flat...

My Cheshire bagging debut! Working in Liverpool and had found that this one was near the services at Burtonwood, so a quick and dirty job. I can only echo earlier comments that this road is very busy with no pavement and not even a verge in some places so do take care. However, the trig is easy to see and access apart from the traffic. Nothing to inspire for me here, distant view of the West Pennine Moors and not much else. Still a new county and I am sure Cheshire has more to offer when I have more time.

Metal plug [indented letters]. Public - on grass verge between road & open field. Not an impressive location. The road is very busy & those walking on it should take extreme care. Half-decent walk over from Earlestown - highlight is the disused Sankey Canal, England's oldest [1757, so a good few years before the Bridgewater].

Must have passed this trig point a thousand times in the seventies when I was racing at Burtonwood on the old american airfields, and never realised it was there untill a few weeks ago when I was out with my wife showing her the kart track where I used to race.

Located on west side of Clay Lane about one mile south of Burtonwood village. Clay Lane was a lot busier than I thought it would be. A bit awkward parking by the road side.

Very good condition indeed. Dead easy to find as roadside pillars tend to hide in hedges, there is no longer a hedge. Parked next door, on with the hazards and a quick look. So near the motorway, lovely.
