Parked in CP by church in Llanaelhaearn (12.15) and followed FP's, starting just north of village to wind through lanes, fields, farm yards. Slow work with cattle and farm dogs en-route. Once at main E to W track things got easier, with dry, soft ground all the way to Bwlch Mawr. Very impressive high, drystone walls, mile after mile and in excellent state of repair. Another very warm day, ca 25C, producing hazy conditions, even the Nantlle ridge was obscured. came back on same route diverting off to visit Gyrn Ddu, the highest of this cluster of hills

Walked up from an easterly direction, parked in big passing place just past the mast. Followed PRoW up for a while then cut up to summit tors. If you follow the path fully it comes to a wall and a vague path takes you to a fine stile over the last wall. TP is on a rocky base with fine rock tors all around. Views to Anglesey, Snowdon, Rhinogs and Cader Idris, Welsh Coast and hills of Lleyn Peninsular are stupendous. A wonderful viewpoint on a superb day. Followed path comfortably back to the car.

Marvellous trig in many respects. Ample parking near the harbour at Trefor, SH37587 47228. Great public conveniences. Short trek back up the road and across A499. Footpath is exceptionally well marked once negotiating Rock Cottage. After a moderately steep ascent the path levels out to a stroll through fabulous scenery. At the ladder style SH42521 46783 we turned 90 degrees left and followed the substantial wall in a northerly direction. A few hundred yards further on, at the next boundary there’s steps built into the wall. After a few more minutes, a ladder style over the final wall before the trig is clearly visible. We returned the same way with a different perspective of the tremendous vista.

Walking the Lleyn Penisula Coastal Path but rather than following the path parallel with the road decided to make this walk far more interesting by taking in the hills between Trevor and Pontllyfni. As a bus was due at Trevor, I opted to catch it as far as Pontllyfni and walk back via lanes, paths and approach Bwlch Mawr from the path to the east and a hope that the hill fog would lift in the meantime. There is a sustantial wall to cross close to the summit but I did find a ladder stile a little further west. Went on to climb Gyrn Goch and Gyrn Ddu afterwards and was rewarded with fine views before dropping down to path to south. Note there are some substanital walls to cross by taking the route between the hill summits.

Following government guidelines and the rule of 6, I finally walked the 6 hills in the Clynnog AONB. Be warned OS Landranger does not show walls. I started the ac round from the east at Cwm Cilio farm, this is not open access, but the farmer suggested the route to Pen y Gaer. Once on the tops there is no water or shelter, LOTS of high, wide walls to cross and some scrambling required, especially to reach Gyrn Goch summit.. I wouldn't suggest doing this pillar in bad weather. Today was perfect. A special trig and dedicated to Wales for allowing the English back. At last!!!

Parked at roadside near church in Clynnog Fawr. Walked up lane to find bridleway track which passes Pen-yr-allt-uchaf. This track is also a stream for most of its length. Once out into open access the route we took was in a south easterly direction toward the wall which meant we ended up in a large boulder field, not a good place to be in poor visibility and the rock was very slippery. There is a stile over the wall a short distance north of the junction of the two walls.

Parked in a layby between the mast and the path to the east of the trig. Followed the right of way, then decided to take the short route up through the boulders. Pretty tough going this way (scared we would start a landslide!) Almost reached the top of boulders and worked our way round to the left to avoid more. Saw trig over a high drystane dyke. Too difficult to cross, so followed wall down hill until we reached a corner with a stone stile through the wall. Back up to trig. Took the longer way back down avoiding the boulders. (Should have just came up this way in the first place ;) )

Pleasant late winter day to be out walking. Very little wind about and a fair bit of warmth from the sun on the south facing slopes. This was my final pillar of three for the day and certainly the most dramatic of the trio. I descended down to the village of Clynnog Fawr to finish off. So much more quieter now than it was a few years ago, before the bypass was completed.

breezy bright day as part of a six wall horseshoe walk culminating in the 'marilyn' summit Gyrn Ddu, Rather mega challenging walls often. delightful wander up through woodland and chat to 'Rod' at the house and learn he was the owner of the 105 acres of woodland either side of the valley which he was gradually managing. Had an allarming mega gorse challenge to end the walk as we gradually descended diagonally down west round to northish the SW and west flanks. deep heather gave way to ocassional interspersions of low gorse that then became more gorse that became two foot hight then three foot high, having to try and carefully press ones boot down onto the bushes. It just got worse, four and five and six foot high continuous unavoidable gorse the lower down we got with no escape but gentle and careful pushing through it. Then all of a sudden the ordeal was over. We hit a track leading north and back eventually through a short bit of wooodland and over a small bridge and out to the roadside near my car.
